Empowering Young Adults with Disabilities to Thrive
A premier adult therapeutic day program in the Metro Atlanta since 2010 offering a supportive, engaging environment where life skills, friendships, independence, and joy come together.
Parents of young adults with disabilities want the same things that all mothers and fathers want for their children: happy, fulfilling lives filled with independence, meaningful relationships, and a sense of purpose.
When your child has special needs, that wish list just grows. After high school, they need support to retain academic and social skills, build confidence, and learn new life skills, from budgeting to getting around safely.
That’s what Great Prospects is here for.
We offer a place where young adults grow, connect, and thrive through daily accomplishments, physical activity, creative expression, peer connection, and community outings that make life richer (and more fun).

Empowering Special People for 15 Years
Great Prospects, celebrating 15 years as the Atlanta area’s elite, private, nonprofit program for young adults with developmental disabilities, is the place where young people aged 21 to 40 can find all of this while their parents or guardians are at work. We also have weekend and summer programs that welcome high schoolers 16 and up.
Our mission is to enable young adults with developmental disabilities to reach their highest potential. Our unique approach involves a safe inclusive environment for our participants to be autonomous and independent while working with qualified staff. Our 7:1 ratio allows our participants to express their true personalities while learning to make good choices.
Want to know how it all started, and why it matters so much?
We offer a range of enriching programs designed to support young adults with developmental disabilities.
Our flagship Therapeutic Day Program, held weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., focuses on skill retention, social development, community engagement, and overall well-being.
Participants engage in:
Health & Fitness: Adaptive Yoga, Martial Arts, Pickleball, and Fitness classes focused on cardio, strength, and flexibility
Creative Therapies: Speech, Music, and Art therapy
Community Activities: Visits to local stores, libraries, parks, and volunteer opportunities
Life & Social Skills: Lessons in healthy lifestyle choices, technology use, pedestrian safety, financial literacy, and self-care
Weekly Fun: Lunch outings, bowling, movies, mini golf, and other group activities
We also offer flexible programs to meet a variety of needs:
Drop-In Program: For young adults (21-40) needing 1-2 days per week, fully integrated with our Therapeutic Day Program. Requires 24-hour advanced notice.
Saturday Fun Day: One Saturday a month, participants (16-40) enjoy social outings while families get a well-deserved break.
Summer Friends: For high school students (16-21), this program runs during summer and school breaks, offering fun, structure, and a preview of the Therapeutic Day Program.
What Families Are Saying
The impact of Great Prospects is best expressed through the voices of parents and staff who witness the growth, joy, and transformation of participants every day.
One Great Prospects participant’s dad says, “Any parent that wants their young adults to grow and prosper in a way that is so personal – this is it right here … the physical activities, the cognitive activities, the different resources and people they bring in every day. These young adults get personal attention. They’re challenged.” He adds that his son “comes home exhausted because he’s doing something every day, but he’s happy.”

The Heart Behind Great Prospects
Life will lead you down many paths.
As someone who has inhabited the ballet world since I was 5 years old, I never dreamt I would be running a program for the developmentally disabled, but here I am. Life was simple when Indya was in the school system but when it came time to transition out and we started looking, our lives came to a halt!
There was nothing in 2000 that I would even consider. Great Prospects, Inc. was created because there was a lack of necessary programs in the Atlanta area that would meet the needs of active young adults. So GP was created and continues to evolve to meet the changing needs of a diverse population.
No one outside the disability community understands our lives; therefore we need to support each other. Let Great Prospects, Inc. lighten your load.
Our goal at GP is to offer parents a place to drop off their son/daughter and go to work knowing that they will be well cared for in an enriching environment. To see friendships forming, peer support, and just the fun participants have being together doing things gives me pure joy.

Whether you have time to share, a skill to offer, or the means to give, your involvement helps our participants continue to blossom.
